Arky Calendar is a privately operated personal assistant application, run by an individual user on hardware they control. It is not a commercial service. This policy describes how it handles data from Google Calendar.
Authorization
Arky Calendar accesses Google Calendar data only after the account holder has explicitly authorized it through Google’s OAuth consent screen. No Google data is accessed before that authorization is granted.
What data is accessed
Depending on what the user asks the application to do, the data accessed can include:
- the email address of the connected Google account, used to confirm which account is connected;
- the list of calendars the account can see, including each calendar’s name, colour and access level;
- event details on those calendars — title, date and time, location, description, guests and their responses, reminders, recurrence, and conferencing details such as a Google Meet link;
- free/busy availability, which indicates when the account is busy without revealing what the underlying events are.
How the data is used
The data is used only to provide the calendar functions the user asks for: displaying calendars and events, checking availability, and creating, updating or deleting events on the user’s instruction. It is not used for any other purpose.
Where the data is stored
OAuth tokens and cached calendar information are stored on the user’s own privately operated, self-hosted Arky installation. The long-lived authorization credential is encrypted at rest. There is no shared or centrally hosted service, and no operator other than the user holds this data.
Sharing
Google user data is not sold, is not used for advertising or advertising profiling, and is not shared with unrelated third parties. Data is not used to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Information the user keeps privately in Arky — such as their own records of people and tasks — is stored only in their own installation. It is not written into calendar events and is not disclosed to event guests.
Retention
Data is retained only while the Google account remains connected, or for as long as the user’s own local calendar records require. When the account is disconnected, the stored authorization credential is removed and the cached copy of Google calendar data is deleted from the installation. Events in Google Calendar itself are not deleted by disconnecting.
Revoking access
The user can disconnect the Google account at any time from within Arky, which removes the stored credential and the cached calendar data.
Access can also be revoked independently at any time from the Google Account security settings, under the section listing third-party apps with account access.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Arky Calendar’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page and the date above will be updated.
